The Numbered Limited Edition 2011 is a great achievement for Swarovski as "The Bald Eagle" is the largest piece the company has ever launched in colored cut crystal. Designed by Heinz Tabertshofer, "The Bald Eagle" is exquisitely crafted in facted Amber crystal with Light Topaz crystal accents, and takes a place of pride atop a rocky outcrop in facteted clear crystal. The authenticity and uniqueness of each piece is attested to by the inclusion of the distinctive Swarovski swan logo and an individual number engraved on each piece.

The ruler of the skies has always fascinated designer Heinz Tabertshofer as it effortlessly swoops and soars through the clouds amid the solitary splendor of nature. Equipped with extremely acute eyesight and the gift of tireless flight, the Bald Eagle has been celebrated across cultures and time as a creature of vision, freedom, strength and grace. The importance of protecting this majestic bird of prey was highlighted in the late twentieth century when it was discovered the the Bald Eagle was on the brink of extinction in the USA. Fortunately conservationists raised awareness about this stunning bird and implemented successful protection programs, which resulted in the Bald Eagle being removed from the Endangered Species List in 2007. It is through an appreciation of the many facets of this awe-inspiring creature that the designer has created such a breathtaking piece, so rich in details.

The Bald Eagle has a long history in American culture as the quintessential icon for freedom. Adopted in 1782 as the emblem for the United States of America, the Bald Eagle is highly regarded for its long life, great strength, and majestic look. Found on the backs of our coins, as the seal for our country, established as our national bird, and referenced throughout the history books, this majestic animal is always respected. Facts About Swarovski

Born to a glass cutter in North Bohemia, today a part of the Czech Republic, young Daniel Swarovski completed a two-year apprenticeship in his father's small factory. Here, he gained expertise in cutting glass.

During this time, in 1892, he invented a machine that revolutionized the process of crystal cutting. He filed for patents soon after. In 1895, he founded the company Swarovski. He realized that he needed more water, power and a factory building in order for his plans to manifest. In addition, he needed to move away from competitiors to keep his inventions a secret. So, he chose to settle in Wattens, Tyrol.

In 1976, the first Silver Crystal Mouse was the first ever figurine created using chandelier parts. Representative of the Olympic Winter Games taking place in Innsbruck at the time, it also marked a historical step forward in the world of crystal. A Replica Mouse is available today.
